Something ‘Scentsational’ about Just 4 Fun

The start of the 2009 carnival season is just three months away and already there is a buzz in some circles about this year’s event which will see all major activities running from the beginning of June until the third week in July. At least one carnival band grouping, says that they are ready for carnival 2k9.

Just 4 Fun carnival band last year experienced a bumper season with costumes being sold out by the end of May. On the streets on carnival Monday and Tuesday the band saw more than 800 revelers, among them a number of foreigners playing to the band’s theme “Greek Mythical gods.” This year the executive of “Just 4 Fun” tells us that they are back as a small group yet again, but mightier than ever.

According to them they want to share a unique experience of fun uninhibited yet responsible revelry with their revelers on the road for St Lucia’s carnival. According to co-band leader Veil Tobiere, the band will this weekend be launching its theme for Carnival 2k9 via the media and on their website Just4Fun. This year the band will be playing “Scentsation” and will pay tribute to some of the top fragrances over the past decade, which have become hallmarks of fragrance fanatics and aficionados. “What we really want to do is open registration from this weekend, the moment our theme is launched,” Tobiere told the STAR.

“From that point on persons registering early with us will have the first sneak preview ahead of our launch and get to hand pick their costumes,” he added. According to Tobiere these early registrants will also qualify for special incentives and discounts for playing mas with Just 4 fun and attending their events.

The full launch for “Just 4 fun” carnival band will take place on Saturday April 25 with a massive fete, when the full theme and sections will be unveiled. After that it is expected to be non stop pace for the band, which has been known for their signature fetes during carnival, including the popular foam fete and cooler fete.

St.Lucia Carnival
Just 4 Fun has started PRE-Registration for its 2008 revellers. A lot more to come but costumes range between EC$450 to $500 (Currency Conversions: USD170-190 / GBP120-135). Yes people, 2 days inclusive of your costume, drinks and lunch on both days on the road. Last year, it even included a Blue Devils t-shirt for j'ouvert!

i got an email from Red International they should be launching soon.....Also Atlantis band leaders split up so that explains why the name changed but the other section leader will be coming out with his band next year.....Music should start dropping soon too......look out for collaborations between St.Lucian artists and other popular dancehall and soca West Indian artists (yall getting a lil inside info deh)
