WHAT happens when "the greatest show on earth" is captured and chronicled on the world's most influential medium? Well, if you really want to know, then tune in to CCN TV6 for Carnival 2004 and find out. TV6's Carnival coverage, entitled "Hotter Than Ever", begins promptly at 7.30 a.m. today with the first edition of the exciting and informative Carnival On D' Promenade series.

Now in its sixth season, Carnival On D' Promenade is back with a bang as series host/popular comedienne Nikki Crosby revisits her ultimate role as the Queen of the Promenade, alongside season co-hosts Wendell Manwarren, Shurwayne Winchester and Iwer George. Manwarren will assist Crosby on the Brian Lara Promenade, Port of Spain, while George will help to pacify the throngs expected to assemble on the Harris Promenade in San Fernando and Winchester will speak to the people of Tobago at the James Memorial Park-thus covering the three alternating venues for this season of Carnival On D' Promenade.

Last year's instalment in San Fernando caused such a stir that the series' producers at Six Point Productions had no choice but to schedule regular visits to the southern city this time around.

Both the San Fernando City Corporation and the mayor, Ian Atherly, have promised to provide assistance in showcasing the existing Carnival elements in the southland, while the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) and Radio Tambrin will share their wealth of knowledge and expertise in presenting a concise picture of Carnival in Tobago.

Carnival On D' Promenade will appear from the Harris Promenade, San Fernando, on January 22 and 29, as well as February 5 and 12; with two big shows airing live from the James Memorial Park, Tobago, on January 26 and February 9.

"I feel honoured that I was chosen to be one of the co-hosts this season," said Winchester. "I'm happy to be able to represent Tobago and at the same time I'm very excited to share in this fabulous experience. My first love was in broadcasting, but through God's grace I became a vocalist and now, I have the opportunity to revisit my initial passion and at the same time I'll be on the other side of the interview, where I can ask questions of some of my peers and find out some of the things that I've wondered about myself. I thank the Lord and, of course, the folks at TV6 for blessing me with this opportunity and I ask all the viewers to tune in at 7.30 a.m. every weekday morning for Carnival On D' Promenade 2004."

This season, as always, Carnival On D' Promenade will bring you all the sights and sounds, tastes, wardrobes, ensembles and personalities of Carnival: from the most happening events and the promoters behind them, to all the vintage elements of traditional Carnival, public awareness issues and including of course, the top calypsonians and soca artistes, as well as the rising stars and debutantes. When you tune in this week, expect to see entertainers like Denise "Saucy Wow" Belfon, Machel Montano, "The Angel" Journey from 98.9 YES FM, Knycky Cordner, Michelle Sylvester, Blessed V and Bunji Garlin and The Asylum Band.
