Mas action for Carnival 2006 continues through this month, spilling into December as well. In the next few weeks at least five band launchings will be held, beginning with PCS Starlift’s unveiling of Show Time, tonight, at the band’s cultural complex at 1 Mucurapo Extension, Woodbrook. Music for the launch will come from Roy Cape All Stars, Sagicor Exodus, Angostura Playboyz, Worldwide and DJ Crosby.

Tomorrow, there are launchings in north and south with Rampage premiering The King and I, at its camp, 123 Charlotte Street, Port-of-Spain; by Stephen Dereck’s Midas T&T, and Ivan Kalicharan launching Trinbago 3000, at Club Platinum, San Fernando.
On December 4, it’s the turn of Belmont Original Stylish Sailors (Boss) showing off its 12th Carnival presentation, Cultural Drums. For this one, music will be by DJ Small Man City, and the action gets going at 2J’s Pub, Norfolk Street, Belmont, at 4 pm.

Also on the evening of December 4, Brian MacFarlane has chosen Jean Pierre Complex to launch his eagerly awaited Threads of Joy. Construction work has been feverishly in progress at Macfarlane’s Ariapita Avenue camp in Woodbrook, and music for the launch will be by Surface, Laventille Rhythm Section and DJ CIN.

Earlier this month, new mas band Toute le Monde won new friends when it displayed its C2K6 presentation—Trinee Chinee—at Chinese Association in St Ann’s. Endorsed by China’s ambassador to T&T, Trinee Chinee is in recognition of, and celebrates the 200th anniversary of Chinese in T&T, red-circled for 2006. Bandleader Dr Michelle Bennett told Pulse this week that Toute le Monde is one C2K6 mas band which will have no sleepless nights over the ban on feathers imported from Asia. She said that Trinee Chinee will portray “actual costumes, with extremely minimum beads and feathers, and no swimwear.”
