I have always wondered about this carnival. I have been to L.A. a few times but noticed that there were hardly any West Indians out there compared to the east coast cities like NYC, Boston, DC, Miami and Toronto. Anyway here is the website.

Well yes, LA carnival make carnival central board.
Well, it's no miami carnival but I have fun every year. I am part of Carnival Jumbies, we do a tshirt band but this year we have a costume section along with the tshirt band. The carnival mentality is different in LA, just growing. If you need information, you can visit www.bachanal.com. This year I think we have DJ Tony Tempo on the road, DJ D'Life from NY, and The Specialist from Miami...........I think one from San Francisco as well. |

LA Carnival survived the rain.
It was fun, Carnival Jumbies were the largest band on the road. Rhythmwize and DJ Tony Tempo were Jammin. Visit Bachanal.com for more photos. |

Yes, Los Angeles Carnival dodged a bullet again for the second straight year regarding heavy rain and cold weather.
I keep telling them they need to move the date up to the week before Maimi Carnival but they don't listen. It makes it tough on those of us putting a music truck on the road to have to prepare for heavy continous rain. LA Carnival appears to be getting bigger each year...Ive been involved since the start and the first year we only had about 4 people in real costumes. My guess would be there were in the neighborhood of 500 to 700 people on the Road...another thousand or two at the park where the parade ends. All and all, it appeared to me to be a big success for the Organizer. John Rhythmwize Sound System |
