I always stay at the Gem which is a little outside St. George but on a beautiful beach and the Fantazia night club is right on the premises.

Caribbean GEM Beach Holiday Resort in Grenada

The Tropicana Inn is another favorite for carnival people and its right on the parade route in St. George...$65/nite for a single.

............................................................ ............................................
The Tropicana Inn, where you’re always greeted with a smile! Overlooking one of the Caribbean’s most beautiful yacht marinas, with 20 air-conditioned rooms, each has private bath, cable television, telephone and patio. Laundry, baby sitter and maid services are available, as is our conference room with seating for 100 people. Children welcome year-round. Buffet, singing and barbecue entertainment. Located just five miles from Point Salines International Airport.

I stayed at the Gem the first year I went Grenada Carnival in 2002. I agree it's a kool place to stay. Nothing extravagant, but definitely a decent place for a good price. The nightclub being right there is a definite plus and I think they also do a T-shirt band if I remember correctly. The only negative I have bout the Gem is the distance you gotta walk to reach Grand Anse, but I think it's always worth it to rent a car so I doubt that would be a concern for him.

Tropicana Inn I've only seen from the outside so I can't comment on that one.

I also stayed at the Gem for carnival in 2002...small world eh? LOL

Julia, the Gem owner, always sponsors a Monday Night Mas T-shirt Band and she also sponsored a section in pretty mas with the Summercrew Mas Band which I hear may come back with a band in 2008 after a two or three year absence.

I used to walk that hill from the Gem to get to Grand Anse where I could catch the bus...got me in shape for the road but that walk is not for everyone.

I really like Grenada Carnival and hope to back in 2008, I missed last year but was there in 2006.

Ive eaten at the Tropicana Inn but never been inside to check the rooms, great location though, especially if you dont have a car.
