Well you can't beat the location you in POS !!!!!!!! The rooms are decent, on par with a 3.5 star hotel anywhere, the location is excellent, you can walk to anywhere downtown, breakfast shed is across the road and it cheap to get a taxi from there to anywhere. If you want your own taxi, call 628 - taxi, their rates are very good.

Hey all,

let me try to answer your questions:

#1. Renting a car and parking. Driving around downtown you will bounce up alot of traffic. The normal taxi routes are always changed up to accomodate carnival bands passing through downtown. This usually comes into effect on Carnival Saturday to Carnival Tuesday. As for parking at Crowne Plaza, there is parking at the hotel and a BIG car park just up the street at NIPDEC. In addition you will find Carnival Monday morning from 6 to 11 you should get ease up from traffic as police are on the roads directing traffic. On Tuesday there will be more restrictions and limited movment from around 10:00AM. And expect terrible traffic on both days in the evening, be prepared.

#2. The Hilton is at a great location of course, you can walk down that hill and you by the Savannah in 5 minutes or less. Plus Hilton hosts a few fetes and a nice Carnival Brunch. They are doing some rennovations on the hotel right now, but that should not affect you. The hotel is a bit outdated, but it is still one of the best hotels in Trinidad.

#3. The Marriot.....hmmm, well you close to Movietowne, Ruby Tuesdays, Subway, PriceSmart and a few other shops which are right next door at the movietowne mall. There are no direct taxis to the Marriott, of course the hotel will want to call the expensive taxis to get you out of the hotel, but you can walk out to the highway and get a route taxi or maxi taxi to take you to POS . You can also call 628 -taxi, to get to town should be about $20.00 TT, that is for the whole taxi eh, so you can share the cost with someone else . This is a brand new hotel so you know everything nice, I have never been inside, just pass by it alot, oh, and the view is blocked by a big building they putting up behind it.

Thanks..

Saucywow;

Thanks for your input...Nuff help to me.

Thanks again. One more major question come to mind, I had started a thread, and you know how these posts goes...no one seems to give you a straight answer, my thing is if you don't know, you just don't know.

Anyway ---Cell Phones....

I am coming from NYC, my cell phone service is with Sprint, I call them and ask if I will receive call from NYC, they claim yes in a roaming mode...which is like extortion rates....anyway...

I wanted to know, that is if you know.... should I buy a cheap phone in NYC $50-75 NOKIA or AT&T phone and use calling cards or should I rent a phone there, which way would i come out cheaper on out- going calls, I know incoming calls are free ? or If you can supply me with a number of a cell phone store down in POS, I'll call them.

Thanks again.

i was wondering the same..sprint charges .99 cents a min u just have to get international roaming service which i think is like $4 a month or i guess til the time we there til and then cancel it. i still want to know more info on this though cause if u get a phone and then buy a phone card all that money could be roaming charges right there on your original phone.

I wish it was that easy...

jubei71;

I wish life was that simple, did you confirm that info with a Sprint rep ?

if so , they are clueless.... Sprint have another Int'l area where they address those issues, there is no Int'l roaming you can add, Sprint is not in T&T, I did my homework on this...check it out and let me know..

What they offer is .99 per minute for out bound calls, then the extortion portion that T&T is going to charge to made a call for using their network...I don't recall the figure, but it was extortion to the nth degree.

Sprint is not in T&T, so no Int'l plan or bundle minutes is not going to help you when you are making out bound calls...

We need to get the facts straight on this, about a year ago someone was told the same nonsense and when they came back, the bill was over $700 for a week stay...and you know you can't fight city hall ....LOL
