this is going to be my first crop over out of bim Caribana for me too :'( the must do fetes/cruises are:
Frazzled- Thursday Night
Roast Cruise- Friday
Scorch Cruise- Saturday
Bliss- Saturday
Limerz Cruise- Sunday

The $500 rate is an excellent rate, you should have gotten it when it was available, the rates go up in summer cause of high demand in either direction of that route. They're 2 daily carriers out of JFK into Barbados (AA, JetBlue) both of whom are ticketing currently at over $700.

I can think of 2 alternatives off had, the first is that as your familiar with St. Lucia you can come through St. Lucia where you should get a ticket for $400 - $500 and then use Liat or RedJet to come across. The problem with that is that you more likely than not would go into Hewanorra and need to transfer to G F Charles for a Liat flight. The other option is to see if the airlines put on a 2nd daily flight, which often happens in summer.

As for parties, I'd wait till closer to Crop Over to get more info, promoters finalize they're events. Bliss, Frazzled and 10 -10 are fairly reliable bets but I'm waiting to see what's happening with all these cruises as the Harbour Master is no longer available.
