Always go down with people that know where to catch the vibe and already have a game plan down. Dont ever depend on your family to provide you with your carnival adventure no matter how much you have or even because they invite you. ...........................because many of them only want you around because you have that American currency and they want you to bring down things for them...because they think everything is free in America.

That's for them W.I. that go home and act like they celebs and have it all, I don't about your family but I was in BIM this year for Cropover and because I had to spend $1500 to fix my car that was all my spentin money but tickets was paid for so had to go , my family new this and they took care of me I mean I when to so many fete my costume to jump in everything. I love my family but my cousins that did all this know that when they come here I take care of them so they have no problems doing it for me.

Well when I went down to Grenada for Carnival this year my famliy showed me a great time. But when I was in Trinidad last year carnival time....I probably wouldnt of even have got to see the Carnival if I didnt run into a friend from NYC. And its the family that always wants you to come down so they can show you a good time.....but when they feel they cant get anything from you.....they act as if you owe them a favor for the hospitality.

And I am no show off at all.........

I have heard SO MANY horror stories of people family and friends rell salting up dey scene come Carnival time.........1 ah meh homegirls ask meh tuh look out fuh dis fella who went down lass year so ah tell she no scene....1 ting ah does try tuh do is tell people talk tuh meh b4 yuh go down and even ah year in advance because it is KEY tuh either stay in d city area or have transportation at yuh disposal...........dude was staying in Arima and dem folks did not want tuh come down town fuh nuttin......so basically he spent he Carnival in Arima after coming all d way from d US. if he wasnt staying so far ah woulda even pick him up tuh lime wit we........people does make promise and doh come tru......and yeah dey does want tuh suck yuh pockets expecting yuh tuh pay dey way to fetes and drinks etc.............good ting i eh kno or does lime arrung dem kinna leaches

AMEN TO THAT!!!! this doesn't go for just friends, but family members that you stay by. We come aross with a set budget for holdinG up our costs for fete and costume and ting. So when we all go to ah fete or something, PLEASE DON'T LOOK AT US TO FIT THE BILL FOR EVERYTHING EVERYTIME WE GO SOMEWHERE JUST BECUASE WE CARRY FOREIGN CURRENCY!!!!

Anyway man...that must have been real stress for your friend!!!

Especially if he knows all the fun things that go on in TNT around that time!!!.

Well chick end up crying outside long circular mall talking bout "I didn't know I'd feel like this, I don't like the way I feel, I wish I could get a flight home right now" and talking bout heat making her dizzy even tho she the one leave the air conditioned mall to stand up outside and cry...all because she went 2 fete back to back then couldn't go to sleep cause we had to go to the mall to find shirts to wear monday...and that was only the beginning, it went downhill from there.

That's what would have happened if it weren't for hubby reminding me that I did encourage her to come and was therefore her host and responsible for her...I didn't like him very much at the moment but had to admit he was right. Chalk it up to lesson learned tho cause that nonsense will NEVER happen again.
