From January 30th through February 5th, New York State is offering another week of sales tax-free clothing and footwear purchases of less than $110. You may recall that New York City already permanently eliminated its portion of sales tax on these purchases in 2005. Business owners in your business improvement districts should not charge any NYS sales tax on applicable purchases during that week, and shoppers are encouraged to take advantage of post-holiday sales and end-of-the-season winter clothing purchases.
