YASMEEN HADAWAY

BIOGRAPHY – YASMEEN HADAWAY - MISS LIME

Miss Yasmeen Anya Nicole Hadaway is a friendly, vibrant and creative 22 year-old, presently residing in the community of Queens Drive. Born on 23rd March 1987, she is the daughter of Marie Soleyn-Antrobus and Wade Hadaway. Receiving most of her education in the United States, Miss Hadaway graduated in 2004 from Stuyvesant High School in New York City and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Dance from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut in 2008.

Her decision to pursue her degree was greatly influenced by her dedication to dance training from the age of 4 years old. She has studied most genres of dance at a professional level and has performed with a few notable choreographers and companies such as choreographer Arthur Aviles of New York City and the Malick Folk Performing Company in Trinidad.

Yasmeen presently works as a sales associate at a department store in New York City and is a dance instructor for an after-school program at a community centre in Brooklyn. After attending the University of the West Indies in St. Augustine, Trinidad and learning much about Trinidad’s folk culture, she gained interest in the connection between culture and the performing arts.

She decided to enter the Miss SVG Pageant in hopes of expressing the importance of culture, education, and the arts in St. Vincent as her platform. She is passionate about education in the creative and cultural arts and intends to return to university for a Masters in Arts Administration.

Her future goal is to start her own performing arts theatre company with the aim of collecting, preserving and expressing Vincentian folk culture.
