IMFF 2008 Week 4 Preview
Marquee Matchups
D Revellers @ Star Studded Generals: Hard luck arguments can be made for many of last season's top guns who are off to a very slow start, but despite what the standings say these teams still can never be counted out (especially this early in the season). D Revellers get to travel this week into division 1 territory to face the always dangerous Generals. Looking at D Revs roster this should easily be counted as a win, but the season has not gone as expected for the champs of year before last so be prepared for anything. The Generals who are always confident must consider themselves lucky to to be in a tie for first in the division after having suffered one monumental injury after another. With a patchwork WR corps that has filled in admirably, look for the Generals to be crafty and battle to the end even against the odds in this matchup: Edge D Revellers
Despers Darkhorse @ 4th Down Syndromes: Having narrowly won their last match (fully exploiting the "home field advantage") against another one of the long list of top tier opponents on the early schedule, the Syndromes now must tangle with last years runner up Darkhorse. Having escaped the cellar and being labelled a "bottom feeder", Syndromes must now take care of business against an equally struggling but dangerous opponent. Darkhorse meanwhile has to ignore the record and play up to their potential in order to take home a victory. The odds makers in Vegas has Darkhorse as a 4:1 favorite in this matchup, but as is the mantra for this season "you never know." Expect another down to the wire finish: Edge Darkhorse
Pokie Punishers @ Bruklyn Husslers: Probably the biggest hard luck story of them all, Husslerz have yet to garner their first win of the season. With the unexpected success of the Diggers and BigBlue it becomes even more critical that Husslerz record a positive result from this matchup. When asked for comment after the last game Husslerz manager was quoted as saying "every game from here on out is a must win." On the other side of the fence things haven't been that rosey for the perennial contender Punishers who come into this matchup sporting a 1-2 record and tied for third (which equates to last place) in their division. The Punishers hope to step on an already reeling opponent at home and get to a respectable 2-2 record that could possibly see them sharing the division lead after this week: Edge Husslerz
Getting over the hump: The battle of the 2-1s!!
The most surprising contenders in this early season square off against each other in a matchup that may decide who goes on to success and who falls back into the familiar pool of mediocrity. Morvant BigBlue @ Q's Limers: "The cutarse tour" appears to be back on track this year to the delight of BigBlue's management. After week one BigBlue had retained it's title of laughing stock among the other managers, but has quickly corrected it's course by winning 2 in a row. Having surpringly dwelled in the cellar last season, Limers are off to a fast start and hoping to continue building momentum towards a playoff berth. Having suffered defeat to the Bulldogs last week Q has to prove that the result was simply a fluke and not a return to the status quo. Look for this one to be fierce! Edge BigBlue
Washngton Bulldogs @ The Yardies: One of the more intriguing matchups of the week pit the league "big mouth" against one of the steadier managers over the past 5 seasons. The Bulldogs always seem to be a threat and has quickly established themselves as one of the better teams in the league. the Yardies who missed the playoffs last year after having a major letdown at the end of last season want to be taken seriously. Having made some great additions to their roster they believe they are legitimate contenders and seek to make an example of the Bulldogs in the process. Edge Even
The rest of the matchups
EEK le ChAt @ Boston Bears: Barely Legal @ Boyon Kings: Look for Le Chat and Legal to both maintain their undefeated streaks in these divisional matchups.
D-Block Diggers @ Monkeys: Unless there are either major injuries in Diggers camp or major movement by D Monkeys, expect Monkeys to continue that familiar slide.
Brooklyn's Finest @ New York Hitmen: Look for hitmen to turn it up a notch as they seek to keep pace with the rest of Division 1.
Bye: De Bajan Fyah & I Long
