Well, here's the thing. Everything in the Bible is for our edification but not everything is to be taken literally. It's also not good to take one verse and run off with it, without considering it in light of everything else. The same goes for reading everyday books. It makes no sense to pick a sentence or two in a chapter and then decide that's what the whole chapter or section is about. Unfortunately that's what people do with the Bible, sometimes unintentionally and sometimes not. So that being said, the interpretation that people are not burning forever is Biblical.
